Besides values such as democratic and affordable, innovative technological solutions emerged alongside an inspiration from nature with round, organic shapes and a mix of materials. ...Stockholm-based Amanda Rodriguez work as a set designer and stylist for commercial and editorial clients. Throughout the years she has found her own tone of voice, often focusing on a specific material or detail in an image, and letting that set the tone. Light, as well as the the absence of light, plays an important role in her compositions, and the result is often subtle and poetic. Rodriguez set up her studio in 2014 and work with a number of well known brands such as Ikea, Zara Home and H&M.
...Interior decorator Kirsten Visdal founded Håndverk + about six years ago, a platform where the Norwegian craft and design communities can meet and learn from each other. She sees a new generation Norwegian designers challenging traditional norms. ”They have a more transparent approach and don’t let the market dictate their expressions. They also move fluently between art, design and craft,” she says and points to the importance of new platforms such as Sorgenfri and Galleri Pytonare exhibiting experimental design and craft. We asked her to pick six Norwegian designers pushing the norms.
...“This season is all about detoxing. We are detoxing our minds as well as our homes, and we re-evaluate the objects we live with, giving each item space to breathe. We pay more attention to quality, and look for the sculptural and organic, shapes that inspire us – in art, graphics, craft, fashion and architecture. We see the small details in our lives and our homes and cherish them.”
