...3 Days of Design 2024 took Copenhagen by storm from 12-14 June, expanding its reach with over 450 exhibitors, a significant increase from the previous year. This year’s theme, Dare to Dream, invited attendees to explore bold visions and innovative concepts across the city. Here are the highlights that captivated us and left a lasting impression.
...In its 10th edition, 3 Days of Design 2023 transformed Copenhagen into a vibrant showcase for both Scandinavian and international design. From June 7-9, the city-wide programme came alive, exhibiting a range of innovative designs, reinterpreted furniture classics, as well as exciting new launches and exhibitions. Here, we’ve taken the opportunity to select our favourite exhibitions and events from this year’s memorable lineup.
...Swedish lighting brand Wästberg launches a series of spot-on collections with John Pawson and David Chipperfield – and a brand new partnership. ”Our philosophy around good lighting will remain the same, but the infrastructure will change. We are ready to scale up,” says Magnus Wästberg about the new beginning facing his lighting brand.
...This week the ambitious new restaurant Oxenstiernan opens in a beautiful and historical building dating back to the 18th century in Östermalm, central Stockholm. The brainchild of Swedish gallery owner and silversmith Sebastian Schildt, it’s dedicated to local and sustainable produce at every level. “In a sense it‘s much more than just a restaurant. I see it as a platform where we can inspire with local food and local design; a place which speaks to all senses, and really touch the visitors. With a restaurant I can also attract a younger generation that doesn’t necessarily visit galleries to the same extent anymore,” Schildt explains.
...Mallorca-based architect Per Söderberg divides his time between architectural assignments and running his furniture brand No Early Birds, which recently celebrated 10 years. With a dedicated showroom in Stockholm, No Early Birds just launched its anniversary collection with furniture in exclusive materials. “When I started No Early Birds some ten years ago, the ambition was to create furniture that would become long lasting classics,” explains Söderberg about his first collection which is still in high demand today. “I thought through every step of the process from the beginning and I was never interested in one offs – if you make a collection of furniture they should support each other aesthetically as well as production wise,” he adds.
...Swedish interior design company Jotex has launched an exclusive series of outdoor furniture in collaboration with architect Andreas Martin-Löf. ‘ASPVIK’ consisting of a chair, sofa, sun lounger, a deck chair and a table, is inspired by his grandparents’ summer house with the same name, where he spent his childhood summers. It is locally manufactured in Sweden by outdoor furniture producers Hillerstorp using Swedish, FSC-certified pine.
...Interior decorator Lotta Agaton launches her first collection of furniture and a series of carpets with Swedish producer Layered. The collection includes a sofa and lounge chair as well as a padded bench and a number of carpets, all bearing the mark of Agatons pared down design aesthetic which has made her a house hold name in Scandinavia and beyond.
